Components Units

To save time for users and standardize the way information is organized in a tech pack, it is possible to assign a unit to certain fields related to components:

For the quantity of a component: when you add a component to the Bill of Materials of a tech pack, you can assign a quantity to it. By linking a default unit to the component, you can ensure that this quantity is always expressed in the correct unit (meters, pcs, etc.).

Units can also be used to assign a default unit to a component field. For example, if you create a component field "Weight" for your fabrics, you can assign the unit "gsm" to it. This way, you won't need to write "180 gsm" in this field, but only "180," as the unit will be displayed by default.

To learn how to link a unit to a component field, I recommend this article.

You can customize the list of units from the workspace settings.
(To access the workspace settings, click on the name of your workspace at the top left of your screen, then click on “Workspace Settings”.)

The list of units is shared between component quantities and component fields.

To create units:

In the “Components” section, open the “Units” tab.
Click on “+ New Unit” to create a new unit.
Click on the 3 dots to the right of each unit row to delete or rename them.
